Abstract

Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi hubungan antara partisipasi dalam olahraga dan kesehatan mental melalui kajian literatur. Meskipun olahraga telah lama dikenal memiliki manfaat fisik, dampaknya terhadap kesehatan mental baru-baru ini mendapatkan perhatian lebih. Kajian ini menganalisis literatur yang membahas bagaimana olahraga mempengaruhi kesehatan mental, baik secara positif maupun negatif, menggunakan data dari artikel jurnal, buku, dan laporan penelitian yang diterbitkan dalam 20 tahun terakhir. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa olahraga secara umum memiliki dampak positif yang signifikan terhadap kesehatan mental, termasuk pengurangan gejala depresi dan kecemasan, peningkatan suasana hati, rasa percaya diri, dan kualitas tidur. Selain itu, olahraga dapat membantu mengatasi stres dan meningkatkan fungsi kognitif. Faktor-faktor seperti jenis olahraga, intensitas, durasi, dan frekuensi partisipasi mempengaruhi manfaat yang dirasakan. Namun, ada juga tantangan dan potensi dampak negatif seperti risiko cedera, tekanan kompetitif, dan burnout pada atlet intensif. Penting untuk mengoptimalkan manfaat olahraga sambil meminimalkan risikonya. Kajian ini menegaskan pentingnya olahraga sebagai intervensi efektif untuk kesehatan mental, serta perlunya pendekatan seimbang dan terinformasi untuk mengelola risiko. Rekomendasi penelitian lebih lanjut mencakup investigasi longitudinal tentang efek jangka panjang olahraga pada kesehatan mental dan studi mekanisme psikologis di balik manfaatnya.
