The data analysis technique used in this study is the most active model of analysis where data is presented and conclusions are drawn, whose activities are carried out continuously with the process of collecting data in the form of interviews as a cycle process. The results showed that political awareness in the Alam Barajo Subdistrict was high enough to be known from the background of their choosing on their own awareness and the increase in community participation in Jambi City was around 71% in the 2018 Mayor of Jambi election. In addition, the results of the study indicate that there are four categories of voters namely rational voters, traditional voters, critical voters and skeptical voters who are spread in Alam Barajo District. The meaning of rational voters is the voters who make their choices because they consider the contestants' performance, vision and work program. Traditional voters are voters who make ideological elements as the main considerations such as the similarity of ethnicity, religion, race, region and also because contestants are considered authoritative, populist, handsome and charismatic. Critical voters are voters who combine performance and ideological elements for consideration. Skeptical voters namely voters who do not have a high ideological orientation also do not make a policy something important, the desire of this type of voter to be involved in the political world is very lacking because they think that any elected contestant will not be able to bring the nation towards the expected and ultimately this type of voter decides not to vote. However, the type of voters who dominate in Alam Barajo Subdistrict, namely rational voters who make choices because of the performance and vision and mission as well as work programs of elected candidates are believed to be able to provide change in Jambi City.
