EKSISTENSI PEREMPUAN DALAM RANAH POLITIK INDONESIA

Abstract

The times currently in principle put women in a position similar to that of men. Women get the same rights and opportunities as men, although in fact it has not been wholly owned by some women in Indonesia because of the patriarchal culture is still growing in Indonesia at the moment. Equality of rights and opportunities was apparent in the sphere of politics in Indonesia where in the demands of democracy currently there are new order in world politics that not only men who are able to perform tasks in the political world but women also have deemed to have the ability in the field of politics. By using qualitative research methods, this article tries to describe the existence of women in politics. This article shows that it is still in the middle of the growing culture of patriarchy in South Sumatra, the existence of women become political elite in South Sumatra is experiencing developments. This is evidenced by the involvement of women in the Executive and Legislative institutions occupied, whether in South Sumatra as well as representing South Sumatra in the Central Government. Representation of the women looked at the presence of the female Mayor, female Vice-Mayor,  women members of DPR/DPRD (House of People’s Representatives/Assembly at Regional) , and women members of the DPD (Leadership of Political Party at Regional Level).
